Adjustable Bench Fixture
A low-profile clamping platform for holding irregular parts without blocking tool access.
The constraint
Standard vises are excellent until the part is thin, curved, or needs edge access. This fixture starts with a flat field of threaded holes and uses small movable stops to locate work without surrounding it.
The current prototype is cut from 6 mm plate. The next revision will reduce weight, add a repeatable origin, and replace the tall socket screws around the perimeter.
Current test
I am measuring how much clamping force is useful before the plate itself becomes the least rigid part of the setup. Results will determine whether the final version stays steel or moves to a thicker aluminum plate.
